Gerald first met Rubí when he became her Dad’s Martial Arts student in his art of CATABE in May of 2014. Little did Gerald know that one day, he would be marrying the daughter of his Master! In the video above, you can see Rubi and Gerald bouting at the very beginning with eachother, and then again at the end when they are both bouting with Rubí’s father, Ruben. Fun times!!!

Gerald was a dedicated student from the start. Taking classes once a week to begin with, he immediately became so connected with the system that he decided to become a full time student. He began to train twice, then three times, then 5 times a week, until he found himself taking 10 classes a week across mornings and evenings!!!

Little by little, he became a part of the system. While he continued his Martial Arts journey, he spent more and more off the mat hours participating in the other aspects of the business, which inadvertently meant spending more and more time with Rubí and her family.

Still, for 14 months, Rubi and Gerald did not think of eachother as anything more than fellow Martial Artists. And, although their way of being and nice personalities were very compatible even as just acquaintances, it would be well over one year before they even thought of eachother as friends ^_^
